06.03.2025
Polish Institute Berlin, Germany
A meeting of Marco Martin and Edwin Bendyk and a discussion around “The Captive Mind” by Czesław Miłosz and its topicality in the reality of digital era disinformation. In reference to the Nobel Prize laureate’s work, the meeting will concentrate around the threats and enslavements of the 21th century. The event will be attended by Marco Martin - a German author and journalist (born 1970) who regularly writes for Die Welt, Welt am Sonntag and Die Neue Zürcher Zeitung. He lived in Paris for many years. He is a member of the Internet platform Die Achse des Guten and the PEN Centre of German-Speaking Writers Abroad, where he has worked in the “Writers in Prison” section dedicated to human rights. Edwin Bendyk, an editor of Polityka and author of the “Antymatrix” book; an expert in the field of impact of digitisation on the society. The discussion on the classic author of the essayistic literature of the 20th century is there to bring the book back to common awareness and, perhaps, to inspire its reprinting.
