"Lushness. Women’s Art in the 21st Century" exhibition

04.04–18.05.2025

National Museum of Art of Moldova in Chișinău, Moldova

#Exhibition

The exhibition celebrates women’s joie de vivre, fertility, sexuality, communion with the world of living organisms, and inanimate nature. A French philosopher Hélène Cixous used the psychoanalytic term jouissance to describe a model of fulfilling femininity as a result of a libidinal intertwining of factors of an intellectual, physical and spiritual nature.  Psychosomatic jouissance is a sign of non-hierarchical and horizontal pleasure which is the source of female self-determination, independence, and creative power.  “Lushness” is an attempt at presenting both young and the youngest artistic scene in Poland. Painting and two-dimensional art are the most popular artistic media in this generation, broken down by interventions in different materials and techniques characteristic for handicraft and household activities. The exhibition covers the work of sixteen Polish artists.

The exposition will be presented in four exhibition rooms of the museum.
