Magdalena Abakanowicz's “Wise Men” in Court of Justice of the European Union

The Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg has an impressive collection of works of art from EU Member States and it regularly lends them as part of collaborations with leading museums in Europe. Up until now, the only Polish work of art in this prestigious collection was a sculpture “Acrobats” by Prof. Karol Gąsienica-Szostak. The presentation of work by Magdalena Abakanowicz offers a unique chance to strengthen the presence of the Polish art in the Court’s space and fits into a broader context of presenting the works of art of one of the most acclaimed Polish female artists of the 20th century. As part of this event, the sculpture “Wise Men” will be presented to gain a new dimension owing to being inscribed into an unusual and symbolic spatial context of the Court. The exposition of Abakanowicz’s work will underline the international character of Polish art and its ability to enter into a dialogue with different artistic traditions of Europe.
