Mural based on Kasia Walentynowicz’s illustration in Balti – an official inauguration, Solidarity Street Art project

The official unveiling of a mural based on Kasia Walentynowicz’s illustration from the book The Shadow Catcher (collected fairy tales) by Erna Rosenstein, created as part of the international cultural program of the Polish Presidency. Painted by team of artists: Marcin Blach, Paweł Świtalski, Daniel Meinlschmidt and Piotr Kiernicki.  

 Katarzyna Walentynowicz on her work: “The illustration comes from a book of fairy tales written by Erna Rosenstein. Erna’s fairy tales can be interpreted in many ways – the spirit of surrealism is present here, there are echoes of the world experienced by war, the fight between good and evil. I tried to show this surreal and non-literal atmosphere in the illustrations. The choice of this particular illustration becomes symbolic in our uncertain times – the illustration tells about unity, brotherhood, and love. It is a great honor for me to see my work presented in such a magnificent setting, where it can be shared with a wider audience and spark meaningful conversations.”
