NEW POLISH FILMS – Solidarity on Screen in collaboration with the Polnisches Institut Wien and Stadkino Wien

As part of the New Polish Films series organized by the Polish Institute in Vienna, Stadtkino will host screenings of five films from the Solidarity on Screen: The Polish Presidency Film Review program, curated for the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2025. The series focuses on the theme of solidarity, one of the Presidency’s core messages, explored through diverse social and artistic contexts. 

Screenings: 

• 12.03.2025; time: 20:00 - Doppelgänger. The Double (dir. J. Holoubek, 2023) – A psychological thriller that delves into themes of identity and moral choices through the story of a man confronting his doppelgänger.

• 13.03.2025; time: 18:00 - Next to Nothing (dir. G. Dębowski, 2023) – A bittersweet, intimate story about human relationships in a small community, offering a reflective look at contemporary life in rural Poland.   
  
• 14.03.2025; time: 20:15 - The Silent Trees (dir. A. Zwiefka, 2024) – A poignant documentary exploring the bond between humans and nature, highlighting the importance of solidarity in the face of the climate crisis.

• 15.03.2025; time: 18:30 - Wet Monday (dir. J. Mytnik, 2024) – A dramedy using traditional Easter celebrations as a lens to explore family conflicts and bonds in need of healing.
• 16.03.2025; time: 20:15 - Ultima Thule (dir. K. Chrostowski, 2023) – A gripping tale of an expedition to a remote Arctic island where a group of researchers faces not only the harsh elements but also their own weaknesses and moral dilemmas. 

The New Polish Films series at Stadtkino provides a unique opportunity to explore contemporary Polish cinema and reflect on the universal theme of solidarity in today’s world.
