Participation of Polish Women Photographers in the Belgrade Month of Photography as part of the series Photography – More Than Reality. The Art of Imaging

At the Museum of Applied Arts in Belgrade, three photography exhibitions will be presented:

• Woman with a Monkey by Justyna Mielnikiewicz,
• Betonium by Katerina Kouzmitcheva,
• Anima by Magdalena Hueckel Śliwińska.

This year’s Belgrade Month of Photography revolves around the theme of "post-conflict", a term rich in meaning and interpretation—referring to the aftermath of political, social, personal, and environmental struggles. The exhibition concept and accompanying mini-catalogues are being developed in collaboration with the Serbian design studio Metaklinika.

"Woman with a Monkey" is a long-term project dedicated to the culture and reality of the Caucasus region. For over a decade, Justyna Mielnikiewicz has photographed the Caucasus, seeking to understand the tense political climate, the mechanisms of war, and its impact on the everyday lives of the people. The photobook resulting from this project won this year’s Photographic Publication of the Year award and was also recognized in the Best Photography Book category at the 72nd edition of the prestigious Picture of the Year International (POYi) competition in the United States.

"Anima" is a personal visual journey that explores the world through the eyes of a traveler entering an unfamiliar environment, attempting to find meaning in the transformation unfolding around them.

"Betonium" explores the relationship between contemporary identity and architectural heritage in Central and Eastern Europe, with a focus on post-Soviet residential construction.
