Reading by: Uwe Neumann
Translation: Dorota Cygan
“The Lightbulb Thieves”, recently published by edition.fotoTAPETA, is the latest book by poet and essayist Tomasz Różycki – one of the most important voices in contemporary Polish literature. Life in a block of flats, one of the masterpieces of the stark beauty of the late People's Republic of Poland, becomes a true metaphor for modern human existence. Tadeusz lives at the center of the universe, on the top floor, where the sky and… cocoa are his closest neighbors. Journey is not easy for the boy, as he must navigate long hallways cloaked in semi-darkness – because tricksters are constantly unscrewing the lightbulbs.
In a conversation with poet and president of the Berliner Literarische Aktion, Martin Jankowski, Tomasz Różycki will present his latest book in a brilliant translation by Bernhard Hartmann.
