Solidarity on Screen: The Polish Presidency Film Review at the Budapest International Documentary Festival

The Solidarity on Screen: The Polish Presidency Film Review program, launched by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, explores the theme of solidarity—one of the central pillars of Poland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, alongside security. As part of the Hungarian edition of the program, two Polish films will be featured at Hungary’s premier international documentary film festival: "The Forest" by Lidia Duda and "In Limbo" by Alina Maksimenko. Both films are set to compete in the main competition at the Budapest International Documentary Film Festival, with post-screening discussions offering audiences the chance to engage with the filmmakers.

The Budapest International Documentary Film Festival (BIDF) has been a cornerstone of Hungary’s film calendar for over a decade, with screenings in Budapest and other cities across the country. A vital hub for documentary enthusiasts, the festival fosters dialogue and reflection on pressing global issues. Each year, BIDF hosts over 200 screenings, showcasing the depth and diversity of documentary cinema. The festival also operates BIDF NET, Hungary’s largest online platform dedicated to exceptional documentary films.
