Spain Through the Eyes of Polish Reportage – Katarzyna Kobylarczyk And Julián Casanova

On Wednesday, May 7, the National Library of Spain in Madrid will host Polish reporter Katarzyna Kobylarczyk, author of the book “The Scab: Spain Scratches Its Wounds”, for which she received the prestigious Ryszard Kapuściński Award. The writer, seen as a continuation of the tradition of literary reportage initiated by Ryszard Kapuściński, will be in conversation with renowned Spanish historian and author Julián Casanova, known for his works on the Spanish Civil War and Franco’s dictatorship.

The discussion will also feature Xavier Farré, the translator of Kobylarczyk’s book into Spanish. The event will focus on the Polish school of reportage and the role of literary journalism in recovering collective memory, especially in the context of Spain’s historical memory related to the Civil War and the Franco dictatorship.

The event is part of the Tramas Europeas series organized by the National Library of Spain, with Poland as this year’s guest country.
