Ceremonial inauguration of Poland’s presidency of the Council of the European Union in Warsaw

On January 3, 2025, the ceremonial inauguration of the Poland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union took place in Warsaw. The second in history Polish Presidency will last from January 1 to June 30, 2025.  Musicians of the Orchestra and Choir of the Grand Theater - National Opera performed with famous conductor Radzimir Dębski (Jimek). He himself also prepared a new piece inspired by Polish classical music, that artistically corresponds to unique story of Polish identity.

This event symbolically begins the cultural program accompanying the Polish Presidency. The motto of the next six months is: "Security, Europe!". Accepting the role of a leader in the field of culture, Poland invites other countries to form a dialogue based on mutual respect. All the initiatives will be accompanied by the logo of the Polish Presidency designed by Jerzy Janiszewski: the Polish flag intertwined with the letters EU. This symbol reflects Poland's involvement in European affairs and the ambition to set new directions for the EU's development.

The events taking place in Poland will be coordinated by the National Centre for Culture of Poland, and those in other European countries by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute. The next six months will be devoted to building international dialogue and strengthening cultural cooperation. From January to June 2025, under the motto "Culture sparks unity", AMI will prepare nearly 100 cultural events in 20 European countries: concerts, performances, exhibitions, film screenings and literary meetings. The foreign cultural program of the Polish Presidency will be based on partnership with the most important cultural centers. Intergenerational and international cooperation of artists all over Europe will encourage a common dialogue about the future of our continent.
